Two download methods
Quick Transfer mode
DJI Mini 2 offers "Quick Transfer mode" that allows you to transfer photos and videos stored in your drone directly to your mobile device over a Wi-Fi connection without going through a controller. If you use this, the transfer speed will be 20MB / s (Valid only in countries where 5.8GHz band radio waves are available. 2.4GHz band is used in Japan, transfer speed is limited to 6MB / s.) . It takes about 35 seconds at 4K, 15 seconds at 2.7K and about 12 seconds at 1080p to download a 1 minute long video.
However, in my environment, even if I used Quick Transfer mode with DJI Mini 2 in Japan, I could only download at about 2.5MB / s at most. On the other hand, with normal download, I was able to download at a speed of about 6MB / s. The software may not have been tuned yet.
- • The maximum download speed depends on the environment. It is valid only in countries where 5.8GHz band radio waves are available, requires a mobile device that supports the 5.8GHz band, and must have nothing to block the radio waves. If either of these conditions is not met, the 2.4GHz band will be used and its maximum transfer rate will be limited to 6MB / s.
- • Keep the device and drone away from Wi-Fi routers, Bluetooth speakers, headphones, etc. when using Quick Transfer mode to minimize the effects of the surrounding environment.
Normal download
For DJI Mavic Mini , or if you don't use "Quick Transfer mode", download speed of video file from drone to smartphone is about 1.5Mbps ~ 2.5Mbps. The video file size is about 700MB per minute at 4K, about 291MB per minute at 2.7K, and about 248MB at 1080p. Therefore, it takes about 5.8 minutes at 4K, about 2.4 minutes at 2.7K, and about 2 minutes at 1080p to download a 1 minute long video.
