How to purchase Microsoft Flight Simulator
Microsoft Flight Simulator is still available on DVD and as a download, but it is now recommended to purchase it from the game platform "Steam".
By registering a Steam account and adding games to your Favorites in the Steam app, you will receive notifications when discount sales begin.
If you are not in a hurry to buy, you may be able to buy it cheaper this way.
How to create a Steam account
First, register an account on the gaming platform:

Please note that when registering a new Steam account on a computer, CAPCHA errors often occur.
So I recommend that you register on your iPhone 
(Safari).
Open the Steam official website and tap the hamburger menu at the top left of the screen.
Then a menu like this will be displayed.
Tap "Login".
A sign in screen will be displayed.
Scroll the screen.
Tap "Create Account".
Enter the required information and follow the on-screen instructions to create an account.
How to install the Steam app
Install the Steam app on the computer where you want to play the game.
Open the
Steam official website
on your computer's browser and click "Install Steam" at the top right of the screen.
Then you will see a screen like this.
Click "Install STEAM" and follow the on-screen instructions.
Once installed, launch the Steam app and log in with your Steam account.
Disk space required for MSFS
In MSFS2024, users cannot freely change the location where game data is saved. Game data is stored on the C drive. Game data, including the "Community" folder that stores free content, is stored under "C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024". Please make sure you have enough space on your C drive.The minimum required capacity for MSFS2024 is 50GB, but every time you fly a new area or a new aircraft, data is downloaded from the cloud. For a comfortable flight, you need a large cache and ample free content storage area. If possible, please ensure you have at least 250GB of free space.
Changing the Steam game save location
Software purchased on Steam is saved in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps" by default.
To change the save location, click the "Steam" icon in the top left of the Steam app screen and select "Settings" from the menu that appears.
The settings screen will open.
Select "Storage" from the left menu and click the "V" mark to the right of the area that says "Windows(C:)".
Then click "Add Drive".
After a while, a screen like this will appear.
Click the "V" mark to select a new destination drive.
Click the "Add" button to add the drive immediately.
From now on, when you try to install new software on Steam, you will be able to select the installation destination.
In addition to the "C:" drive, you can also select the drive you added this time.
Search and purchase software
Open the Store menu in the Steam app and type Microsoft in the search box.
You will then see some Microsoft Flight Simulators.
Currently (2024), the name of the latest version of MSFS2024 is "Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024."
The name of the latest version of MSFS2020 is "Microsoft Flight Simulator 40th Anniversary Edition."
Click on the title you want to purchase.
The software introduction page will then open.
Scroll this screen.
Click the "Add to Wishlist" button to add it to your "Favorites".
You'll receive a notification when a discount sale begins.
Under that, "Add to Cart" buttons will appear. Microsoft Flight Simulator (2024) is available in four editions. Select the edition you want to purchase.
Editions can also be upgraded later for a fee.
